5th Annual New Year Gathering
~ 2022 … Bringing Our Light to You…
Offered by Denise Yocco
This information, however late, is still relevant. Now, especially since we have been through January and February, we realize that change is constant, and our surrender to it, or attitude towards it, holds the key to our happiness and contented hearts
Each year’s end, we wonder, we ask, if not out loud, silently, perhaps even whisper, “what will the new year bring”? And at times, such as those we are in, we wonder, not so much with a sense of adventure, but with a bit of trepidation, what is coming next? The truth is, that for the last 6 years, it has been somewhat like that. We have been turned around and set on a new course, in many respects, in our life, in our country, and in our world. Things are changing. The question is, are we changing too? Are we learning new things? Have we adapted?
There is no doubt we have changed. How we have changed really matters, and in that change lies the difference between trepidation or adventure. Do we know who it is we are bringing into this new year? The world, and all that goes on in it, our life, and all that it is and can be, is near impossible to foreknow, or foretell. To know oneself is the best approach. To bring to the year who we have become, are becoming. This is a subtle shift that brings a very powerful entry and stance heading into the new year.
If in a new year we bring what is our own self knowing, the knowing we have experienced over the last 6 years, or even the past 2, we bring in something fresh and new. The knowing of our personal experience with life. Not our opinions, or ideologies, but our human experience with life, our life, our learned awareness. If we can enter into a new year saying, I do this, I say this, I feel this, I think this, because I know who I am, our year changes, our life changes. We realize that we don’t need to understand the minutiae of all that keeps us anxious, angry, or awake at night, that it is in all truth, knowing ourselves that enables us to navigate through it all. We are now driving the year, offering who we are, our hopes, dreams, and prayers, meeting it, with eyes and heart wide open.
How do we do that? Of course, the process of getting to truly know oneself is a forever path and journey, but we inch closer and closer with each new hard thing we do. Hard as in honest, as in courageous, as in brave, as in truth. I will sequence 3 ways that we navigate the curriculum of our life. In a sense, what has our life made of us? Have we gathered the tools we need for balance and contentment? How about for joy and love? How about for bliss? Equanimity?
Here are the 3; Are we victims of our life? Are we survivors of our life? Are we yet heroes? What makes a hero, a hero?
We will wander about until we find our way to this awareness. Each year we are presented with the same questions…what will this year bring…how will it roll over me? I am offering a way to turn the table on this new year ahead, and the years that follow it, by offering to it our full awareness, our consciousness. By offering to it our totality of being, with the full measure of responsibility that it requires of us. I am recommending that we know who we are, so this year, or any year, or our past, or anyone, does not try to tell us who we are or should be.
So, I hope you will join me for this gathering of new year seekers. I offer to you, just to remember, what it is your own intelligent heart already knows. I promise to offer kindly with love and awareness and hope to assist you in realizing how bright your light is and how much everyone’s light is needed.
