Good Grief
The Holidays ~ Breath and Gratitude
Facilitated by Denise Yocco
As I have mentioned here often, Good Grief, is an effort to bring our grief forward, and to be aware that it is always in the process of moving through us. Our sorrow and loss is not anything that goes away, but rather changes, and if we allow, has within it the potential to transform us, so we are able to transcend our loss to experience the changed relationship we now have. Also to realize the difference between the natural process of grief, and to clearly know when we get stuck in grief that does not move. And while we may know all this, there are times in our life when it may feel it impossible to push away the longing to be with those that have passed, or to push back the memories of times we enjoyed with them. The holidays and special events and anniversaries, are among those times.
Our time spent together in this workshop will be to address how we can enter into these times aware, awake and armed. It will be a way to prepare, and not be caught off guard, or overtaken by our grief and sorrow. To create a strategy to stay ahead of any surprises and or triggers and to be a mindful participant, rather then a victim with no choice, as you process through the holidays that are upon us. In this process we will use our breath and our gratitude like sails on a boat to navigate the days ahead of us, as we pass 1st year anniversaries for some, and more for others. I want to express that this is not a time to push our memories away, or to try to keep ourselves distracted. That simply does not work. But rather, to embrace what we feel with love, gratitude and tears. With awareness and mindful intention.
You may wish to bring a journal, something to use throughout the season and afterward that will be designated for your process in your sacred sorrow. We will begin to use it in this workshop.
Please note that time may go over depending on how many attend.
