Dear Friends and Community,
This is the time of year when we begin getting ready to be busy. Busy with loved ones, family and friends. Busy with preparation. Busy with food and thoughts about baking.Busy with list. Busy with buying, or making, to give what we can.This is a busy time for love. It is active. We may enter into it mentally kicking and screaming, but in the end, love finds us where we are, and pulls us into the joy of a season so varied among us in tradition, but each holding the seed of some brighter light we all seek and hope would light the way forward.
This year we are also busy with finding our way through the chaos in our country, that many the world over have experienced, that is however new to us, to this degree. And while we must remain vigilant, we must continue to find joy and in that joy, gratitude for life. There is a great seed of opportunity in this time. I know we all wish it would just go away and leave us in peace. But just as war is the lower vibration of destruction, peace is the higher vibration of creativity. Peace is a hard fought vibration to establish what is good for everyone. It is hardly done quietly. It is established by defense and defeat. And there is a collective defense that can be stood up for, something most can throw their weight behind. Full disclosure; before I started this email, I put my hands to my heart and asked what I need to offer tonight. I pulled from my word deck, and I pulled Defence.

What Do We Defend…
By defense and defeat. I am speaking here to thoughts and ideas, not people. Not doing any harm to anyone. This is spiritual, in the heart, warfare. Collectively we can defend non-violence as a strategy in caring for each other. Can we not defend doing unto others what we would have done unto us? This was a new law to replace the old. It was a law of mercy and kindness.
Collectively we can defend truth and justice. Fair treatment according to the law. We can defend law and order as what we should feel protected by equally. Standing up, speaking out, speaking against, all this corruption and bloated power and greed,is just the right thing to do. And it must be constant, with no backing down, until this madness ends.
Our creativity and persistence will give way to something new someday. This cannot be replaced with what was. The what was gave birth to this. So something new. Something real to pass along to our next and next generations. Something born out of defending truth and justice for all. Not a pretense. Something real. Something human with being. We cannot miss being.
It is never the truth we need to fear, but rather the fear we allow to win and take hold. All true and real things need to be defended. And how do we know that what we defend is true? Because it works. It works at bringing harmony and joy to our souls. It works to stabilize right thinking that works in behalf of all beings and our earth. It creates peaceful pathways and bridges to bring people and their ideas together. It annihilates our separateness, while giving us solitude. It gives us our freedom, while finding rest in each other.
I am no one who knows something. I know there are so many of us who know the same something. The something we know must be told, spoken of and defended. Our joy cannot be diminished, our bravery to stand up will one day bring what we carry in our bones to fruition. What we have learned in silence and by our own experience we bring as a collection to the collective. We know what we have learned. We know it can be defended. We know it is true. We stay the course. And in all the big and little things we do this season for those we love and care for it remains as an undercurrent, like music playing in the background, we don’t forget because we can’t. It is who we are.
The card I pulled said this: One should defeat an angry man with patience, an evil man with goodness, a miser, with generosity,and a liar, with truth.
