Dear Friends and Community,
Those words, No Matter What, have been coming up lately for me. I don’t think I say them out loud, but inwardly I am affirming a resolve, or resolves of the covenants made over time with myself to be true to the findings of what being true means to myself, and to all others.
I would imagine, that we all get to that place in our life, at some point or other, when only truth will do because the ground it reveals, and the difference it makes, makes everything different. While it might not at all change anything in our world,it returns to us an innocence long forgotten, that nurtures our nature to imagine once again, not with the innocence and immaturity of a child, but with the innocence of an empowered realized, and grown up, adult. It doesn’t mean we are sinless, It means we are honest and true. It might not be what we see happening at this time in our country or the world, but it is possible for each of us to live and love, and to give and receive from that well nurtured, and well watered ground of our being. And from there, “no matter what” hums within. There is no other way for us, no matter what.

No Matter What…
And it is through no fault of our own that we sort of get paved over, in the name of progress and human development, much like old dirt road. It is not our parents fault either for wanting us to leave our childhood imaginations behind so we could succeed in the dreams they couldn’t fulfill. There was a hint there about such successes, well ignored time and time again. It has been the way of things for a long time. Most of us forget entirely the magic of our own imagination, forgetting the worlds we once created, or the questions that bloomed out of our relentless curiosity.
Our imagination was,is, our prime material to realize our true nature. It is the well spring of our true intelligence, keystone to our wonder and awe, exchanged for well practiced habits that keep us forgetting to not ignore ourselves so much, or to take some interest to know and remember, and even love, who we are under this well paved road.
In the name of progress we are all living under well paved roads. In the world and in ourselves, and for far too many, unable to break the cycle. We can get a sense of why we see what we see. Habits are hard to break, and being denatured becomes our nature and the only thing we can nurture is our forgetfulness and our lack of curiosity.
And thankful we become for the cracks in the paved surface that give us some inkling of something that needs to be remembered, giving way to something green growing underneath. Its a start. For most of us it will take a few more cracks in the foundation, and for some maybe much more than some, it will have to be the drama of an earthquake that opens a hole so wide and so deep in us so we get to see, and feel an inner world so ignored and unattended.This is a new kind of progress, breaking new ground to build anew on our own new found being.
This is a deep and storied metaphor for each of us. What we have done in ourselves to reveal what was once paved over, what we have done to finally nurture ourselves, what we have done to reclaim our innocence and our imagination, what we have unlearned so we can remember, and what we have had to learn anew to return to ourselves. Our story continues. We are navigating our becoming once again.
It is a colossal work that embeds itself in us. We do not remember all the details for the most part. We know it as the journey that never truly ends, we know there is no turning back. We honor every participant that put us on our path, what ever role they played. It doesn’t make our life perfect, but it perfects our life. And no matter what, there is nothing of greater value for exchange.
This is the journey we are meant to realize. From here we offer what we are meant to share as a gift. And each generation is getting a little better at seeing though the cracks in their paved over surfaces. And as that happens more and more parents allow for their children to be guided by wisdom, nurture their nature,rather than pave it over. Truth becomes the better reality that not everyone wants to attend to. But it is the one that will make us strong and brave enough to embrace all the many varieties of truth that we each are. And in there is our “no matter what”, to thy own self be true, and “no matter what” no one can take this from me, and “no mater what”, truth is for sure the very thing that sets us free.
I closed this email to finish it in the light of day. It was 4AM, and I looked at the Moon and decided it was time to sleep. I awoke to hearing the news of bomb strikes in Iran. It has always been the fools of this world who would have us believe that war is a way to peace. Isn’t it well over time we stop living like this?
Hold yourself and your loved ones close. We are sacred navigational tools of extraordinary intelligence. It is about time we embrace that truth…no matter what.
