Dear Friends and Community,
We have entered into a reflective time for many who observe religious traditions and sacred observances. These observances are so loaded and rich with opportunity to learn more, because they are filled with so much more than we imagine them to be. Not just history, celebration, and ceremony. They are alive and a living trust, when we enter into them as if they belong to us. The wisdom they hold in them offer to us insight for living now and navigating skills for all we are seeing and living through. They are not a blind faith to merely follow, but rather a lived experience of hope beyond hope.
And we do not need the sky to open for us to know that we too are living and growing through sacred experience. And we do not even need to feel it is even due to any religion we belong, or do not belong to. Many have given that up. And while some may feel that “the baby” was thrown out with the bath water, it is the divine that keeps things going, moving, in all of us. The “baby” always is, because we are not separate from it. And there is a sacred switch within us that allows us to grow ahead of the chaos, that allows us to see ourselves, and determine who we are,and who we want to be. We can curse it for happening, blame it for how things are going, and make it responsible for all we wish were different. Or instead…
…Instead of assessing all the damage and harm being done to our country and its rule of law, instead of the fear it has conjured in so many, and all of us at times, especially now, instead of all the injustice, lies, war, hypocrisy, soul-less cruelty, criminality, and the irreverence for the earth and those who inhabit it, and all the more there is that runs though our minds like a grocery list, instead of thinking about all it has done to us, I would like to remind you, as I have had to do for myself, of what it has done for us.
I will finish down the page after the weeks schedule and announcements.
There will be no Yoga this Sunday, April 5.

Instead…
Sometimes it takes an great storm, such as we are living through as a country, to realize what it takes to keep standing. And not only to stand and hold on, but to actually grow and know who we are because of it, in spite of it. Instead of growing weary,we awakened, instead of being fearful, we found courage, bravery and LOVE.
Sometimes it takes a president and an administration like this, to see how we do not want to be. We have witnessed an ego, out of control, the poison of lies, the arrogance of greed, the corruption of power, the weakness of warped loyalties, and a disassociation from any and all consequences that look and feel like soulessness.
It has allowed us to consider ourselves. To peer into how we think and learn from it. To grow up because of it. Sometimes, a person comes along in some generation of time as an opportunity for us to know what kind of person we are by what we do not want to be. Sometimes, there is a person assigned with being the worst, so our better and best can be revealed. And instead of thinking of all the harm he and his sycophantic mob have done, I think of all those that are seeing through this. While many have inched downward, some just rolling along, far more have moved up into simple awareness. We have become more known to ourselves and that allows our choices to be real decisions and not knee-jerk reactions. We are responding, and not living by accident.
All the many realizing how much they love their country, and their neighbors. And instead of allowing this and them to wear us down, it is because of them, and their weakness and all the rest of it, that we are learning and discerning who we are, and each other, in the process . We are filling ourselves up. We are standing up tall because we have to. We are the hope we look to, we are the living hope.
It is good, every now and again, to think about what we are becoming because of our history at this time. What is being built up in us, instead of what we feel is being taken away, done to us. What is being created in us, while there is so much being destroyed. It is a practice that moves us towards realizing that there are things grown in us that no one can take away. We are choosing to be another wonder of the world. And there has to be a bit of gratitude for how we came to grow like that.
Discovery of oneself is the gift yet to be self-gifted. The greatest misery is to live without making that discovery. We will, upon such a find, realize a gratitude to all and everyone who edged us closer to being more than we ever imagined we could be. We will understand that there is a seed buried, in every happening, every event, every era, every time, that could die in the soil unopened, or could sprout a new creation. Everything is for something. There is nothing that has no meaning. Everything holds within it the sacred that we are. We choose what to make of it, and what to create with it. We are protected in this journey. We are the lesser of the greater, the particular of the universal, the potters of our time, at this time. What will we make of it, and what does it look like being made from LOVE?
Wishing a Happy Easter, and Passover to all those observing. May we all realize the sacred life we have been given to live, the sacredness we carry, and the hope we have in ourselves to create the life and world we want from the life and world we have.
Peace and Blessings,
Denise Yocco
