Dear Friends and Community,
Welcome to the end of the month. All Hallows Eve, Halloween, Samhain, Dia de los Muertos, All Saints and All Souls…and any others I missed. The honoring of ancestors, the ending and beginning of seasons, and the thinning veil between things seen and unseen.
In any and all ways that you celebrate this season, I hope it is potent,inspiring and fun.
Calling this, In Your Heart You Know, as I keep thinking about a sign I saw at the No Kings protest a couple of weeks ago. I brought my drum and just walked through the very well attended crowd drumming. It was well received, mostly. I got to read many signs. I walked and drummed and sometimes cried. I got to talk to a few people who asked why I was drumming. I just felt like my best voice that day was the spirit in the drum. I still feel that to be true. One sign however, of all the signs I saw, has remained with me. It was hardly big, and not very artistic, but it was the most powerful. When you read it, you felt it, and the words were like an arrow, and sharp as a sword and true; IN YOUR HEART YOU KNOW HOW WRONG THIS IS.
We are all living and seeing and being affected by what our hearts know is wrong. And the wrong gets more wrong every day. The pain and cruelty expand. The greed and lawlessness advance. The never ending lies, a lie in every sentence and show of force and power and heartlessness. And yet, in our hearts we know that there is nothing in this takeover of our country that resembles rightness. There is no creative bloom in this seed. It is total for chaos and destruction.And we keep reaching defining moments. Might this be the one to make a difference?

We will soon be in the thick of the holiday season. I feel it will be best to wait until the new year to begin again our writing coven class. There may be some pop up events in December. I am still waiting on some clarity on them.
In Your Heart You Know…
It is, I realized our hearts that our protesting. It is our hearts that are out in the streets trying to stand up for neighbors and friends and even perfect strangers, as they are beaten and dragged away. It is our hearts that want justice back, our hearts that want order again. It is our hearts that are standing ready to do what we many need to do to assist those who will go hungry. It is our hearts that allow us to speak truth to power, and our hearts that want to meet this moment in all the ways we can to end this nightmare. It is our hearts that are brave and strong meeting this moment they want us to fear, but showing up instead with love.
This is not hard to see anymore. All the things that people convinced themselves would never come to pass have come to pass. He is saying out loud what is next. His minions stand by him with no regard for the promises made to all “his people” to be their salvation. In his mind he is king. And in our hearts we know he is unwell, a madman, with the will to only harm.
We have to use our hearts at this time, to at the very least, know what they know. We have to be able at least to know that we have allowed a mad man, an unwell, unrealized, unevolved human, the unchecked maniacal power to destroy the checks and balances, the rule of law, as well as the use our military unlawfully.
It is time for a heart check. It is time to remember what he maybe hoped some might forget, their humanity. It is time to be honest. I have always seen him as most unloved. I still feel he just wanted someone to say a while back, “No you can’t kill someone on 5th avenue and get away with it”. Real men do not say things like that. That is not power or strength. And it sure was not funny then, and it is a lot less funny now.
We have an opportunity to speak with our heart this Tuesday when we vote. We have an opportunity to begin to stop the chaos. An opportunity to send a message to all those who have lost their heart and their ability to know right from wrong. As Americans we are all vulnerable to have our rights and freedoms taken away. We are all in trouble and no one is safe anymore. The only safe place we have is in our hearts, because in our hearts we know what right feels like, and we know what right does.
Please exercise your freedom to vote while we still have it.
The image above is one I did awhile back. Every time I see it it reminds me of the strength, and power we have with the support of the many allies we carry around with us in our heart, as part of our spirit. Never alone, and together we have armies of support, when we allow our mind to be illumed by our heart and all the love we have there.
Tuesday, November 4th is a voting day. Make sure you vote. Every election matters!
