As activist, many of us new at the work, we have experienced the full range of feelings and emotion since the outcome our presidential election. We were numb, we cried in disbelief and we were certain we had work to do. We did not know what to do or where to begin, but our knowing was certain.
It has been over 7 months since the election. We found ways to get through and ways to push back. We have marched, made calls, sent letters and emails and postcards. Created meetings, working groups and agendas. We have been active and through it all we keep finding ourselves, yet still, full of feelings and emotion, but now we are also exhausted at every level. How to we stay active and prevent the burnout? Or if already there, how do we pull ourselves back and continue?
This event with explore ways to find balance. We will talk about what has brought us the most joy in being active, as well as what it is that is draining us of our spirit. Where do we go from here? What do we now incorporate into our day that will refresh our involvement? What practice have we abandoned in the wake of this presidency? What word best describes where you are? In what way to see yourself remaining active? From a personal standpoint, we will use a simple formula to get to where we want to be: I observe. . I feel. I need. I request.
We will take some time to listen and learn from one another. Hoping all those that are feeling the activism breaking point will join us. Our intention here is to find a way to stay active and feel whole.
