Facilitated by
Gloria Shepard, B. S., M. Ed.
Gloria Shepard has a practical, down-to-earth approach to mindfulness and parenting education. She sees mindfulness as an incredibly useful practice for all of us who are trying to do too much, too well, with too little time and support! Having worked with children, parents, and teachers for her entire career, Gloria is very aware of the pressures on young people, parents, and teachers and is dedicated to support people in finding peace in their complex lives.
Her interest in mindfulness began as a search for help to become a calmer, kinder mom. As a full-time classroom teacher and parent to two young children, Gloria got home exhausted and often cranky. Years later, her children are now teenagers and Gloria is grateful for the deep transformation mindfulness and its associated emotional work have brought to her parenting, family, and self.
Gloria has trained extensively with Mindful Schools and is a Mindful School certified instructor. She has studied Mindfulness Meditation with her core teacher for more than 8 years and continues to study and deepen both personal and professional practices. Gloria’s teachers include Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, Adyashanti, and Pema Chodron, and she has completed Mindfulness-based Stress Relief Training with a UMass-trained instructor.
Professional training’s include:
- Mindful Schools Certification to teach mindfulness to children and adolescents in schools and other settings, Mindful Schools, current.
- Mindful Schools Curriculum Training, Mindful Schools, 2010.
- Meditation Training with Suchitra Davenport of Soul Source, a curriculum focused on developing a personal mindfulness practice, intensive self-reflection and awareness-building, and deep exploration of inner awareness, 2007-present.
