Bears, Bears, Bears ~ A Shamanic Evening with the Bears
Presented by Lisa N. Woodside, PhD
Introduction to Ancient Postures and More
We shall sing for the bears, dance for them, drum, for them. We shall invite Bear to visit us. We shall do the Bear Posture. The Bear Posture is a healing posture. Postures come from shamanic practices that are 40,000 years old. We hold the stance of the Bear and journey to him with continuous percussion. He usually presents as Grandfather Bear. He has a personality and presence which may surprise or delight you. And, yes, he is a great healer. No experience is necessary with the journey method to participate.
Postures are used in shamanic ceremony. Several types of Postures include, healing, such as the Bear; changing into an animals; divination; traveling to the upper world or lower world; and initiation. You will learn more about Postures on the 29th, this evening session.
Regarding the star of the night, the Bear, we shall discuss the bear items on the altar and connect them to stories, archetypes, and behavior in the wild. We shall explore the remarkable qualities of bears. They are a strong animal power for shamans and anyone. You can be sure to learn from them as we honor them.
