Bits and Pieces

Dear Friends and Community,
Welcome to the last official weekend of summer. In some very strange way I feel like I missed the whole thing. I feel like it never really got started for me…I am here at the end of it but I am not sure of the rest. That is for me to figure out. I hope for many here that you enjoyed a wonderful season of this very special time of year.

I contemplated for some time what to offer for this email. I asked for the guidance that will usually nudge me towards something, and what I got was me. I am to speak about me. It feels strange. I offer so much of what moves my life each week. You do get many bits and pieces of me. You get far more of me than I do of you. Honestly, it can feel very lonely on this side of the email. I am compelled beyond my own will and somewhere in there is my joy.

I know that what I offer can be hard to follow at times. It has been for me as well, as it is for anyone, all of us, who stay with what we love, stay with what feeds and nourishes us, realizing at some point we have entered into our own depth and found our purpose for being here. It is no different than one realizing they love math or literature, or the sciences and they pursue it. It becomes part of who they are and they connect everything to what they love.

I am not smart like some some are smart. I am not educated smart. Getting in and out of these emails for me can be real work. Checking the grammar, and finding all the right words, at times can take a long time. I am always wanting to express what I feel. I am not here to impress anyone. I have come to know and experience something that I know we all are capable of experiencing. I am no one special at all, quite ordinary actually. But my love, and my passion has always been of a spiritual nature. I love the human/soul being and what we are capable of knowing and realizing. In the depth of what we love comes the quality of what we bring. And so that is what I offer.

And that is part of the wonderful magic of who we are. That amidst the ordinary we all see in ourselves, we can be gifted with a glimpse of the extraordinary in ourselves and in each other.
We are really most extraordinary.

I will continue down the page after the weeks calendar and upcoming events.

Bits and Pieces…
I will share here a few things that I share, out of my own experience, with those that attend classes that I offer. I tell them that the pinnacle of our search and path, the success of the journey is love…LOVE. Only love will do. You know I make up acronyms for words…for this one, LOVE, it is, Letting Our Vision Evolve. That is the only way we can get to LOVE. We awaken into it.

And it winds up being respect for each other. A quote I love, written by some unknown mystic, speaking of this path towards our spiritual heights, is, “Love is like a bridge of hair over a chasm of fire”.
So very very fragile. So carefully we try not to fall into the fire. But how can a bridge of hair keep us from the flames? I do feel the point might be to give ourselves to the flame. How can we tiptoe so cautiously around love? No,we fall in love.

Respecting each other is that love…LOVE. Are we really here to be tolerant of each other? We tolerate bad weather, or loud noises, or things not going the way we might want.We tolerate conditions, but people we should respect. Everyone is here for some purpose, and it is them being here that is respected. We each have our own individualism to pursue, our own dharma, our own autonomy, our own right to be here. That must be respected in and for each of us. Even among the worst of us. And I trust that they are here also making some contribution towards something being more seen, more realized and understood, even allowing us to proceed with caution.

Our respect and love is not blind. It is guarded by the sentinels of intellect, reason, discernment and intuition. It is tricky because we must first love and respect ourselves. Fall for ourselves. We are first in line to stop tolerating what in us is yet unknown. We come to respect what is yet unknown. And then we can know what is knowable. We begin to not be so blind towards ourselves. It is a tedious path, but there is where our treasure is waiting. When we free ourselves, we free everyone. We come to know that not one of us is in charge of anything except the choices we make.

It might be the hardest thing for us to accomplish. Carl Jung imagined we would not. And there are others as well. That we would not collectively become the human beings we have the capacity to be. That we are too self-serving, too self-indulgent, too blind, too superstitious, to ever even have the will to see the sacred in ourselves, or in others, especially in others. And yet, individually we do try. And that will always be where the hope lies.

It is so hard for each of us. Not impossible.
I will share as well, what I have said in class, that we are both the scientist and the lab, the sculptor and the marble, and we are also the map and the treasure. We each must find the place we are most safe to do all that hard, tedious, and sometimes painful work. Our deep heart, the heart of hearts, is made for this journey. We reside in it and allow it to open our inner vision to a place where at long last we are free to experience our own light. In that light there is the love that frees us from fear of the unknown, and of each other.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for beauty. I escape into that beauty every day. Beautiful words and thoughts and the very ancient wisdom that was left behind, a little bit at a time, from one civilization to another. And I paint and play. I have to escape to survive and revive, as it allows me to stay here and enjoy life as the gift that it is. As the miracle that it is. As the beauty it is. It carries me everywhere and allows me to do what I love doing. It feeds the fire I have allowed myself to fall into. I am nourished in the love and by the flames, giving bits and pieces of myself away, in this way. I love sharing what is sacred and what is beautiful, and for far too many what is feared and resisted, doubted and denied. I love when it is realized, experienced and seen, that we are that…sacred and beautiful. When we Let Our Vision Evolve, we all become healers in a way unique to our own being. When we LOVE this way we raise the quality of whatever it is we do to a healing
vibration that is felt.

What allows you to stay here and offer your sacred beauty to our world and all its beings? What magic have you conjured in the name of LOVE? Where do you feel safe? Please let me know if you feel like sharing.

Wishing everyone a great last weekend of the summer season. Sending love to all those already back and those heading back to school…both students and parents, and teachers. May all be safe and may all the better Angels prevail.

Peace and blessings,
Denise Yocco
