And Then It Rained…

Dear Friends and Community,
Late Thursday night…
I feel we are all thankful for the rain. I do not know about you, but I feel in some way, I was drying up as much as everything else outside. I felt like I needed to be nourished with rain. There was something about the lack of rain. I loved looking at the falling and fallen leaves wet with rain, so brilliant with color. They seemed happy. And it looks like we are finally in a weather pattern that will give us more.

And there was something more about the day, that is yesterday, now, that allowed me to cry. It was as if I was one of those clouds. I just let go and allowed myself to feel deeply sad. I allowed it to rise up in me, and I allowed myself to stay with it. It was as if all those bright dry days would not allow me to really settle into the moment we are in as a country, and the uncertainty of where we are headed, which is always the case anyway, but this time, with a degree of certainty that the changes that are coming will not be good for most people, and be quite horrible for some. The unkindness that awaits is recycled damage, I tell myself, but damage all the same. And I thought about my family and wondered if we are ready and strong enough to feel safe in these unsafe times. I felt the deep loss of the recent passing a family cat named June. I was no longer feeling dried up and parched. I was being watered with life as I was feeling it in the moment. I wondered if the rain was having the
same effect on others. How about you?

I will continue down the page after the weeks calendar and upcoming events.

And Then There Was Rain…
And I felt all that. And I felt the earth outside being nourished. And I felt the clouds finally able to offer water to what was parched and dry. And I felt life and existence just doing what it does, and all of nature just accepting it as it comes. It waits if it can. And it dies if it can’t. And we too are the same, as we too are very much family to the Earth, to all of Nature,to all Beings, great and small, animal and human alike. We are All That Is.

And everything I did in the course of my day was if I was doing it for the first time. And by that I mean it was difficult. I felt stricken. I gave in to the day and all that I felt. There was a lot of gratitude in that for me. What I felt was the sacred presence of being in the moment, overwhelmed by rain, feeling the presence of waiting. And knowing that in that waiting I will need to be strong. We will all need to be strong. I will have to trust the things allowed to occur, knowing that there is nothing more to find or seek to make it better, but that only by going deeper will I find the depth of love that will be most needed, along with realizing where I can be most helpful, more kind, more caring and careful in attending to this moment, to this time.

The Medicine Wheel (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/nativevoices/exhibition/healing-ways/medicine-ways/medicine-wheel.html) popped up this evening and wanted to be part of this writing. And so I offer that there is a beginning, a middle, a realigning, and an end to each day. There is a morning, an afternoon, an evening, and night, to each day. There is the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of every being in every direction, in each day. There is wisdom in every direction each day. Each direction a different color to represent the variety of people here on the earth. There are the elements belonging to them, as well as the plants and tree spirits, and guardian spirits of the land belonging to each direction, as well as our ancestors, and our teaching guides, gods and goddesses, deities, and angels in the heavens, all of them surrogates and emissaries, part of the divine order that is there for us. This is how it works, this is what there is for us as medicine each and every day, for
all times, but especially in times such as these.

And at the center is Spirit. The wholeness of the Divine and us together, as one. At the center we get to know what is possible. It is where we learn to wait, with an by all the help we gather to us, collected from each direction in all they each offer. It is a roadmap written on our heart. That is the depth we can sink into. That is the healing we can know and offer. Is that what we are waiting for? I imagine it is.

I settled into the evening less frayed and very calm. I am thankful for process and for moments of dark despair that allow me to know I have a choice to retreat or emerge. Emerging is the better option. I know I am never alone, yet the choice is mine to make. I am also thankful for all of you who are here with me. I hope you are well and that in some way the rain brought some healing to you.

Friday Day…
I held on to all of this until the daylight of this day, to be sure it was enough to say without saying too much, yet in saying enough, something is felt and heard. Perhaps it resonates and you felt all this as well, in some way. That in the falling of rain there is a falling to ones knees. That in the wind there is a whisper to each of us willing to hear it, to each of us willing to listen. The message different for us all, yet the same. Just what we need to make a choice of our own to retreat or emerge. What I have come to know is that we retreat alone, and we emerge supported from all the wisdom in all the directions, and elements, and from all the healing spirit guides that exist in them, and with each other, and from THAT which supports it ALL. Every once in awhile, things will happen, days will beckon, rain will fall, winds will blow, and we will know that our hearts make the choice to emerge.

Wishing all here a wonderful Thanks-giving holiday. May you feel safe and thankful. May your food and conversations be blessed with peace and love, in the circle of life and healing.

With deep gratitude,
peace and blessings,
Denise Yocco
