Deer Friends and Community,
I hope this finds you well after the first swell of holiday memories and events.
I apologize for losing track of the scheduled email. I really did lose track of time and days. All I feel I need to do after the “day”. when I can, is rest, close my eyes or fall deep asleep while watching Christmas movies, watching anything really. and that is what I did.
But not just that. Thankfully I have had sugar plum fairies (my children will laugh here) bringing lots of afterglow warmth to this particular holiday season…and it is still going. I feel so much of it was carried with Molly the dearest of the Deer. It was in 2023 on Christmas Eve, coming home, Nick and I, from a family gathering, that our lives collided. We all survived. It did feel like a Christmas miracle. She was, and I feel, still is, a massive Deer. Our eyes locked. We each had family to get home to. The fates allowed. The car was not totaled. She left some of her hair in the tire rim, and I have to feel we left part of our hearts in each others. And this year she was so present, along with a Raven, that I just wondered through the entire season what it foretold…

Afterglow or Aftermath…
After Molly the season seems like if offers a bit of both. There is always the aftermath of what could have been but wasn’t, and there is always the afterglow of what our meeting brought and left and keeps on giving. I feel for all of us there is a bit of both. What we decide to give our attention to not only gives color to the season, but also it can be what we carry into the new year.
Molly, to me was pure love in the moment. I feel I actually saw tragedy not happen in real time. All of us surviving, was very movie, special effects like. I often wonder about the moment our eyes met and what it has meant to me, and Nick…and Molly too! Of course I would journey to find out more about her and to ask for a name.
Her message to me was to love. To give and receive love. With eyes wide open, Love. To ask for Love above all else. To see Love where it is most difficult to be seen. And to feel it when it seem there are too many obstacles in the way to do so. To override with love, and for love.To know that it never fails and pervade in all of Existence. It was a validating wisdom alive in the moment that could have been my last, but wasn’t. So thankful and so full of gratitude for this life event.
We are here. So much of what we see and hear is not meant to see or hear. So we must rise above the ordinary life we all hope to rise above. Move towards the moments and memories that empower us, that move us towards our wonder and awe, that bring us joy and fuel our memories and our contemplation’s for the things that matter most.
Our life matters. Our love matters. Our joy matters. We are made of divine stuff that matters. We are totally human, and that matters. We live and exist in degrees…we can go very low, and we can go very high. We can embrace or reject the possibilities within us to live to love.
On this Christmas day,Molly was present everywhere. On our way home again on Christmas Eve, all of our family were very watchful for Molly. Molly now is any Deer. I made everyone aware of how present Molly was this season. I received Molly in several ways. Molly cards and gifts, even from those who did not know. I hope to settle down to paint a Molly II…I have had the vision of her for awhile now.
What can we hold in our heart and carry into the coming new year? What will carry us towards the things that most matter to us. What we love we should pursue. It is a subtle truth that we become what we love. What Molly is there for you to hear,to listen to and love? What is this holiday holding in your heart that feels worth it to do it all over again? There is usually something we all wish we could repeat again. Also, something worth forgetting, or leaving out next time around. The paradox is we have to remember them both so not to forget either of them.
