Dear Friends and Community,
Wherever our heart finds engagement and connection there is a spark for love. “Sometimes the most anger reflects the strongest love” ~ Neem Karoli Baba. We know about that these days. I stepped back into the one of the best books I have read a few times…The Miracle of Love. It is book of compiled commentary by Ram Dass, on the meetings and relationships that people all over the world had with his guru Neem Karoli Baba, or affectionately, Babaji.
Was it by accident or design? Never by accident. Nick asked me where the Babaji blankets were. These are wool blankets I bought that are blessed and mantraed over by devotees in the ashram in New Mexico. I bought them several years back to initiate as a healing blanket. I got two for us, and one for a friends mom, who was very sick. And while Nick was so sick last year, we used them. They are so warm, and Nick was always cold last year. But they were for healing and for strength. For not losing hope and for being courageous navigating unknown places.
So when he asked where they were I asked him if he was feeling okay,,,”are you sick”?
“No”. But it jogged a memory for me and so I reached for the book once again. And while I have not pulled out the blankets yet, I realized I needed the comfort of truth that abides in the heart of Love. And to realize Love as a miracle…an honest to goodness bona fide miracle. When we truly know what Love is and what it can do, we will also know what it can never be or never do. So what I am going to do with this email is offer some of the wonderful insights from this book as a warm blanket of healing for all we imagine might be missing in our love starved world, just to remind us once again that there is nothing missing once we remember that there is nothing missing but our forgetfulness to remember.

A Valentine…LOVE as Truth…
Ram Dass, and all of us have the same issue, or problem. He told his guru through a mass of sobbing tears,” I just don’t love everyone”. “No, you must love everyone”, Babaji, replied.
Ram Dass “But you told me I have to tell the truth”.
Babaji ” Yes, Love everyone And tell the truth”.
There is a great work in Love. It embraces the truth of anger and hate. It is the truth teller if we fall deeply into it. It creates the lines we cannot cross. It establishes what we will live or die for. It shreds the veils of illusion. It welcomes the ceremony of life and the ceremony of death as one and the same. It learns to rest in the subtlety of the miracle itself. And we are here to craft our own miracle of LOVE and allow for others to craft their own.
I think it is so easy to fall into despair over the lack of love and truth we see today. It feels organic enough except it does not grow anything but more despair. LOVE is called a miracle because it transcends the ordinary field of possibilities. It takes us beyond our hurting hearts to the heart that connects us all. This is where we embrace ourselves to love ourselves first. In loving ourselves we allow for the journey of truth. Our truth first. It is never fun but it is revealing. In seeing ourselves we see each other and how we come to be who we are. Compassion becomes the polished mirror where we saw forgiveness rather than anger.
I know it is never a one and done. But the more it is done, the more self-love and forgiveness we embrace the longer the spaces get between here and there.We are creating a vibration for a quality of life that feels true and solid.
We can never discount or minimize the ripple we make in the sea of LOVE. It is an energy that is never stagnant or old. It is loaded with awareness and creativity. It is fearless in the face of our questions and doubts. It is an energy of formless fuel that cannot be contained nor fatigued. We might forget we have it, but once remembered and experienced and used, we are no longer by ourselves but rather we are LOVE itself.
It is our love for the world and our love for our loves that in some way has a way to awaken the self-love we will need to step into the much bigger LOVE that embraces the much bigger truths that allow us not only to face them, but be them, become them.
Snihyami Tvayi = I LOVE You = I reside my LOVE in you so we are LOVE Itself, the bridge between two self governing beings; I and You.
I imagine that for us all as I know we are capable and the potential is the seed we carry.
